Sealer Options:

• Wet Look Sealer: Enhances color and gives your patio a rich, glossy, “just-washed” appearance. Ideal for concrete pavers, stamped concrete, and darker natural stones like slate or bluestone. This sealer also adds a durable, protective layer against UV rays, water, and oil-based stains.

• Natural Look (Matte) Sealer: Provides a clean, invisible finish while still protecting the surface from moisture, staining, and fading. Perfect for lighter natural stones such as travertine, flagstone, or sandstone where you want to preserve the stone’s raw, organic appearance.

Film-Forming Sealers

What it is:

Film-forming sealers create a visible protective layer on top of the stone or paver surface. This coating enhances the color and provides a “wet look” or glossy finish, depending on the product.

Best for:

• Concrete pavers

• Stamped concrete

• Bricks

• Dark or dense stones (e.g., bluestone, slate)

Pros:

• Enhances color and shine (“wet look” effect)

• Provides a barrier against water, oil, and UV rays

• Can be slip-resistant with additives

Cons:

• May need reapplication every 1–2 years

• Can become slippery when wet if not treated

• Less breathable—moisture trapped underneath can cause clouding if not properly applied

Penetrating Sealers (Impregnating Sealers)

What it is:

Penetrating sealers soak below the surface into the pores of the stone or concrete, forming an invisible barrier that repels moisture and stains while leaving the natural appearance unchanged.

Best for:

• Natural stone (e.g., travertine, flagstone, limestone, sandstone)

• Porous or light-colored surfaces

• Areas where a matte, natural look is preferred

Pros:

• Maintains the stone’s original look

• Excellent moisture and stain resistance

• Breathable—won’t trap water underneath

• Long-lasting (up to 5–10 years in some cases)

Cons:

• Doesn’t enhance color or sheen

• May require more careful selection based on stone porosity
